Label text:Made in 1874 by dressmaker Agnes Mary Patterson, daughter of David Patterson, 62 Navy Street, Oakville, Ontario. It is constructed of silks left over from dresses made for Oakville customers. A notebook providing the measurements and names of persons for whom dresses were made accompanied the quilt.

Trapunto, from the Italian for "to quilt", is a method of quilting that is also called "stuffed technique". Trapunto utilizes at least two layers, the underside of which is slit and padded, producing a raised surface on the quilt.
DescriptionPieced trapunto quilt of mulit-coloured silk six-point stars with black background; with a 3 1/4" purple satin border; stars have been "stuffed"; overall rectangular shape with pointed ends; made using hand English paper piecing technique and machine backed.
