Society Brand Clothes was founded in 1902 as Alfred Decker & Cohn. It was based in Chicago and incorporated in 1919. It was known for its Society Brand line of suits, which later became the business's name 'Society Brand Clothes'. In Canada, the manufactured suits in Montreal. In 1952, Society Brand Clothes was acquired by Hartmarx, which continued the brand from another thirty years.
